Northern Lights Chase

The thought of the Arctic Tundra conjures up all kinds of images, but little could prepare you for the unexpected beauty of northern Scandinavia during the harshest, winter months. Mudrut’s expedition across Lapland is not for the faint-hearted; driving on ice and snow-covered roads through the dim light of the Arctic Winter may seem crazy, but the accomplishment of such a challenge is about as rewarding as it gets.

The two-week journey encompasses an exceptional landscape and culture moulded from its extreme climate and conditions. Mudrut will guide you along Norway’s fragmented coastline, taking in its famous fjords and Nordic cities, to reach Nordkapp, 71˚ north, the northernmost point in mainland Europe. From this extraordinary headland, all that lies beyond the horizon is a frozen ocean and the North Pole.

You will experience the habitat and spirit of the indigenous Sami, or reindeer herders, as well as visiting the breathtaking Ice Hotel in Kiruna. Above all, this is the perfect time of year to witness the enigmatic Aurora Borealis. Northern Lights activity is forecast to peak in 2012 so there has never been a better opportunity to see them.
